With the 2020 Olympics being questionable to happen. This is the second time the Olympic games are held in Tokyo. Around 11,000 athletes came to compete for the chance to win a medal.

Events

The Olympics had 339 events in 42 different venues.

The Tokyo games held 33 different sports, and five new sports were introduced this year. Karate, Softball/ baseball, Skateboarding, Surfing, and sport climbing.

Number of medals won by countries

The U.S. passes China the most gold medals won with 39. The U.S. also claims the most medals with 113. China is second with 38 gold and 88 medals in total. The host nation Japan won the third most gold with 27 and 58 medals in total, make it the most medals the country has won.

U.S. Women

The U.S. women earned two-thirds of U.S. gold medals with 24.

Records broken

The best athletes around the world came to put on their best performance, and as a result, 17 records were broken.

Youngest

The youngest to compete in the 2020 Olympic games was 12-year-old table tennis player Hend Zaza from Syria.

The Tokyo games were successful, despite the challenges. From the opener to the closing ceremony, the events were amazing, and the athletes were spectacular.
