Gwendolyn Brooks recently has been many social media posts, and most people don’t even know who she is or that she is in their post. This was made possible because of Kanye West’s song Praise God. Kanye Sampled his mother reciting Speech to the Young: Speech to the Progress-Toward, a poem by Gwendolyn Brooks. You might be familiar with “Even if you are not ready for the day, it cannot always be night.”

This is not the first time Gwendolyn Brooks having an impact on the culture. Brooks's poems have been making an impact since she published A Street in Bronzeville. Brooks also won a Pulitzer Prize for Annie Allen, which made her the first Black author to win it.

Gwendolyn Brooks's accomplishments were not limited to her writing. Brooks was the first Black woman to be a poetry consultant at the Library of Congress. Brooks also received a lifetime achievement award from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Gwendolyn Brooks accomplished great things in her lifetime, which is why she is still relevant today and will always be mentioned throughout history.
