Kanye West and Drake Back at it
by experiencehood | Aug 27, 2021The rivalry between Kanye and Drake, which gained attention back in 2018, has emerged again. These are now at it again and on a lighter note than last time.
Pusha T and Lil Wayne
The rivalry that started it was not originally between them. The original beef started back in the mid-2000s with the Clipse and Lil Wayne, when the Clipse called out Lil Wayne for copying their style.
The Clipse had helped make a fashion brand called Bape popular.
Lil Wayne started to wear the brand, which The Clipse decided to make a track “Mr. Me Too”. The beginning of the beef between The Clipse and Cash Money started.
Drake Enters
Here’s where Drake falls into the picture, 2011 as a member of Lil Wayne’s record label Young Money which is under Cash Money, Drake aligning his self with Cash Money and made a track “Dreams Money Can Buy” in which lyrics were interpreted by Pusha T as a diss, which led to Pusha T returning fire with a remake “Don’t Fuck with Me”.
For about seven years, Pusha T and Drake release series of diss tracks aimed at each other.
In 2018 the beef went to another level, started by Pusha T’s diss track “Infrared”. Drake responds with his track “Duppy”, which then leads to Pusha T’s infamous track “Story of Adidon”. The track revealed that Drake was secretly a father and used a photo of Drake in black face as the cover art.
Kanye West’s Part
So how does Kanye fit into this? Well, the diss track “Duppy” included Kanye. Plus, Pusha T’s response “Story of Adidon” was fueled by information that is said to have come from Kanye.
As of late, Kanye West and Drake are still at it. Drake took a low-key shot at Kanye on a Trippe Red track, plus messages on social media, and now they are at each other’s throats about release dates.
Kanye and Drake may be dropping their album on the same day. This will stir up the beef even more as they may compete over sales, similar to when Kanye and 50 Cent went at it with their albums.
