Throughout history, social status played a part in how we perceive a person’s value and respect. Royalty and the upper echelon have gained status among the masses and received the acknowledgment of their value to the world.

Status has always been important to people. Your status in life reflexes how people view your value. Whether or not you want to participate in accumulating status plays a role in your life.

Opposition to status

Let's acknowledge the opposing thoughts of status. In Modern times caring about your status in life has been looked at as shameful. People often refer to people seeking status as clout chasers and materialistic.

People that are indifferent to social status find ways to escape the chase. Those who don't want to bother themselves worrying about thinking about their social status are more likely to position themselves to think they should not care about what others think.

Confidence boost

A high level of status brings acknowledgment to which in turn boosts confidence. Many people like to be recognized for something they have done. The recognition that comes from social status is like receiving a compliment for being you every day.

A person who has gained enough status is recognized for something of value. Having your value recognized will boost your self-esteem and how you view your worth.

Increase drive

When someone is working to increase or maintain their status, it is motivation to become better. Competition fuels your desire for self-improvement. As someone tries to out-compete their peers and rivals, competition pushes their abilities to be the best.

Influence

A person with high status gains a lot of influence as people start to admire them. Usually, people become more trusting of a person that has to establish them and gain a reputation. Positions of power are associated with increasing the likelihood of people trusting them.

People with high status are more likely to have built a large network of people. They are more capable of spreading information and persuading people.
